Medicare Advantage Plan Eligibility

You are eligible to join an MVP Medicare Advantage Plan:

  1. If you are entitled to Medicare Part A (hospital) and enrolled in Medicare Part B (medical).
  2. If your legal residence is in the MVP Health Care Service Area. Our service area is Erie, Genesee, Livingston, Monroe, Niagara, Ontario, Orleans, Seneca, Steuben, Wayne, Wyoming and Yates Counties.
  3. If you do not have end-stage renal disease (ESRD); however, if you have ESRD and you are already covered by MVP Health Care, or if you have had a sucessful kidney transplant, you may join.

Joining an MVP Medicare Advantage plan is easy. You may apply:

  • When you first become eligible for Medicare benefits, which includes:
    • the 3 months before your 65th birthday month,
    • the month in which you turn 65, and
    • the 3 months after your 65th birthday month
  • Due to a disability that qualifies you for Medicare.
  • When you decide to retire or if you leave your employer-sponsored Medicare health plan coverage.
  • When you move into the MVP service area from somewhere else and are losing your former Medicare health plan.
  • If you are eligible for both Medicaid and Medicare.
  • During the annual enrollment period, which runs from October 15 through December 7 each year to begin your coverage on January 1.

If none of the above applies to you, there are other reasons that may make you eligible to apply. Call us to find out.
