CVS Caremark Mail Service Pharmacy

Some of your prescription drugs may be available by mail order. By using CVS Caremark Mail Service Pharmacy, you will pay a 2 month co-pay for a 3 month supply*. Most medications taken on a routine basis are available through the mail order service. Your medications will be delivered directly to your home and standard shipping is free!

How can I get started with CVS Caremark Mail Service Pharmacy?
It's easy to begin ordering medications through mail. Just follow these steps:

  1. Determine if your prescription is available through mail by reviewing the Part D Formulary or contacting CVS/caremark Customer Care.

(Drugs that are not available via mail will have an NM in the Requirements/Limits column)
  1. Ask your doctor to write two prescriptions. One should be for up to a 90-day supply, with refills for up to one year, as appropriate, to be sent to CVS/caremark. The other should be for a 30-day supply to be filled at a participating retail pharmacy while you wait for the mail order delivery.
  2. Send the mail order prescription to CVS/caremark one of the following ways:
    • By fax from your doctor ?Ask your doctor to call 1-800-378-5697 for instructions on how to fax the prescription to CVS/caremark. Your doctor will need your member ID number to complete the transaction. (Only doctors can fax prescriptions to CVS/caremark.) **Please remind your doctor that all mail order prescriptions should always be written for a 90-day supply.
    • By mail ?Mail your prescription with a completed order form and your payment to the address on the form.

If you have not used the CVS Caremark Mail Service Pharmacy and your doctor sends in a prescription for you, Medicare requires that you give CVS/caremark authorization before they will mail your medication:

  • CVS/caremark will attempt to get your authorization by calling three times over a three-day period.
  • If you cannot be reached by phone, CVS/caremark will send you a letter to get your authorization.
  • If you know your doctor has sent CVS/caremark a new prescription, you can authorize the mailing of it:
    • Call 1-866-494-8829 (TTY: 711), or
    • Log In/Register to your MVP online account and select Pharmacy (CVS/caremark) to manage your mail order prescriptions and view personalized information about your pharmacy benefits.
  • Consent is not needed for future mail order prescriptions, unless the co-pay for a prescription is more than $250.

How can I order refills on mail prescriptions?

You can order refills any of three ways:

  • Online ?Log In/Register to your MVP online account and select Pharmacy (CVS/caremark) to manage your mail order prescriptions and view personalized information about your pharmacy benefits. Choose Refill Prescriptions under the Order Prescriptions tab. Find the prescription you want to refill in the list and select Add to Cart. You will need a credit card or your bank account information to make a payment when you place your order.
  • By mail ?Complete the order form enclosed with your most recent mail order delivery and send it with your payment to CVS/caremark.
  • By phone ?Call 1-866-494-8829 (TTY: 711). You can reach CVS/caremark Customer Care 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

How long will it take to receive my medication?

Your medication will usually arrive within 7-14 days after CVS/caremark receives your prescription. Refills usually arrive within 5 days after CVS/caremark receives your request. When ordering, be sure to have at least a 14-day supply of medication on hand.

You can track the status of your mail order by logging in to your MVP online account and selecting Pharmacy (CVS/caremark) to access your personalized prescription drug information. You can also call CVS/caremark at
1-866-494-8829 with any order status questions.

If more than 10 calendar days have passed since you submitted your prescription and you haven't yet received your order, please call CVS/caremark Customer Care for assistance.
